I love doing art with surströmming as the motive. I find it fascinating that they still produce the famous (for all the wrong reasons) fermented herring, known as Surströmming in Sweden. Many people outside Sweden heard rumors about its unbearable smell, and that you are not allowed to open it inside. They say it smells worse than it tastes. I did not dare to try it yet. But some people here still consume it, enough of them that there are several small factories producing it. One of them being Oskar's Surströmming, established in 1955 in Tynderö. This piece does plays with combining the famous Wunderbaum car refresheners with surströmming, something which is not something that comes to one's mind when thinking about the word fresh.
In the rearview mirror we can see part of the street on which the factory is actually placed, with the branded Oskar's tower on the left.
